Immutable, Write-Once Recovery Points

Ransomware and rogue admins share the same goal: alter or delete the backups that would let you recover without paying. ShadowCradle recovery points are locked immutable the moment they land - they cannot be changed or removed until their retention period expires, full stop.

Write-once, unchangeable
Once a recovery point lands, it cannot be modified or deleted before its retention window expires - not by a compromised account, not by an admin console, not by a script running with elevated rights.
Outside the blast radius
Ransomware and rogue admins operate inside your production environment. Immutable recovery points live outside that trust boundary, so an attacker who owns your servers still cannot touch your backups.
Retention you control
Set retention per policy, per workload, or per compliance requirement. The system enforces the lock - even a superuser cannot shorten it early.

Self-Healing Storage Engine

Silent data corruption, sometimes called bit rot, is one of the least visible threats to backup integrity. A single corrupted block can sit undetected for months until the day you need it most.

Our purpose-built storage engine checksums every block on write and re-verifies it on every read, healing corruption automatically the moment it is detected - before it can ever compromise a restore.

Per-block checksums
Every block written to storage is checksummed at write time. On every read, the checksum is re-verified before data is served.
Automatic repair
When a checksum mismatch is detected, the storage engine reconstructs the correct block from parity or a mirrored copy and rewrites it - no manual intervention, no ticket.
Continuous scrubbing
Background scrub passes read every block in the pool on a schedule, catching silent corruption (bit rot) long before a restore would ever surface it.
Redundant parity
Single or double parity layouts mean a bad block, or an entire failed drive, is rebuilt from surviving data automatically.

Ransomware Sentinel

A backup that is quietly encrypted or infected before you notice is not a real recovery point. Every backup that lands on ShadowCradle is scanned for malware and ransomware indicators, so you know which snapshots are clean well before an incident forces the question.

Signature scanning
Every backup is scanned against known ransomware and malware signatures as it lands.
Entropy & behavior analysis
Unusual encryption patterns, mass file renames, and anomalous change rates are flagged automatically.
Per-snapshot clean status
Each recovery point is labeled clean or flagged, so you know exactly which snapshots are safe to restore before you ever need them.
During a recovery, the dashboard shows a clean or flagged status next to every snapshot - so the choice of which point in time to restore from is informed, not a guess.

Independent Recovery Points

Many backup products build long incremental-forever chains that all depend on a single full backup at the root. ShadowCradle does not - every recovery point is captured and stored so it can restore entirely on its own, with no chain of prior increments to validate first.

No chain dependencies
Traditional incremental-forever backups depend on an unbroken chain back to a full backup. Corrupt or lose one link and every backup after it becomes unrestorable.
Every point stands alone
Each recovery point in ShadowCradle restores independently. There is no chain to break and no single point of failure across your backup history.
Maximum recoverability
Pick any point in time, from any day, and recover from it directly - without first validating or replaying dozens of prior increments.

Every Workload Covered

Data loss does not respect workload boundaries, so protection should not either. The same lightweight backup agent covers virtual machines, databases, cloud SaaS applications, physical servers, and file shares from one appliance and one dashboard.

Virtual Machines
VMware, Hyper-V, and Proxmox VMs with application-consistent, image-level protection.
Databases
SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle with transaction-consistent recovery points.
M365, Google & Dropbox
Mailboxes, OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Workspace, Dropbox, and Box - backed up independently of the vendor.
Physical Servers
Windows and Linux servers, bare-metal or virtualized, protected with the same agent.
Files & Shares
File servers and network shares with fast, granular file-level recovery.
